“Monona Terrace has exceeded original expectations in stimulating economic activity and benefits, generating jobs, improving downtown property values, stimulating new construction, improving hotel occupancy, increasing room tax revenues and increasing owner-occupied housing. In 2005 alone, Monona Terrace generated $52.7 million in economic benefits from the conventions and conferences held there. In addition, there is clear evidence that Monona Terrace was an important catalyst in bringing the community together to revitalize Madison's central city. Monona Terrace was also an unprecedented public and private sector partnership, whose success can be modeled for future projects.”
