"Thousands of Madison residents have been employed by Oscar Mayer Met Company since they took over Farmer's Cooperative Packing Company in 1919. They became a cornerstone of Madison industry, and in 1955 moved their corporate headquarters here. The Oscar Mayer Weinermobile made its debut 70 years ago, in 1936, and has been delighting children of all ages ever since. Those lucky enough to drive the Weinermobile are called "Hotdoggers" and the horn plays the "Oscar Mayer Weiner" song. In addition, the Oscar Mayer folks are directly responsible for teaching several generations of children the proper spelling of "bologna"."
